Dior Hypnotic Poison

Product Description
Mysterious and mesmerizing, extravagant and bewitching, Hypnotic Poison is a magic potion for modern times. Audacious and profoundly feminine, the fragrance is an unsettling harmony, a fusion of contrasting olfactory facets.
After reading all of the great reviews, I decided to try out a tester and see what it was all about. I have to admit - when I spritzed it on my wrist (don't spray it on paper, it'll react differently), I didn't know what I thought. I couldn't figure out if I liked it or not - I'd never smelled anything remotely close to it. After walking around for a while, I decided to buy it. I'm glad I did - I love this scent, it's unique and a rather strange scent, like nothing else I've tried. People really DO notice it - there's a constant flow of "ooh"'s and "You smell so good - what are you wearing?". Like another reviewer stated, my nose is practically glued to my wrist when I wear it. This is the perfect scent, especially if you're looking to attract someone. Use this with discretion - a little really does go a long way!

I should begin by saying that about a year ago, I could NOT stand this scent! But, I had only sniffed the spray nozzle and spritzed a piece of paper. No no no no no. That is not the way to get a true read from this fragrance. Just recently, I felt like trying this out on my skin. All of the rave reviews compelled me to give it a whirl again, but only on my skin. I misted my wrist from a good distance, and walked by. But immediately, I smelled this beautiful, alluring scent! Yup, it was the Hypnotic Poison that I had just sprayed. Wow, who knew? I let it sit for about 10 minutes, and sniffed my wrist. Three words: OH MY GOSH. This is one captivating scent! It is a vanilla scent, but not your typical sugary sweet vanilla scent. It's not foody at all. Very mellow and deep. I think the bitter almond note tames the sweetness of the vanilla. If you spray too much, you might get 'root beer and playdoh' from it, but if you mist it, and then wait, it should begin to work very well.

This is a sensuous scent, no doubt. I can see myself wearing this at an evening occasion, or during the fall/winter days and nights. It's a bit pricey though. The 1.7 oz retails at $56 and the 3.4 oz is I believe about $78. It comes in an interesting red, apple shaped bottle with a black, rounded top. You can't really see how much fragrance you have left, so that's a slight downfall. Although I like heavy glass perfume bottles, this bottle truly suits the scent it holds. Lasting power: AMAZING. This will last you all day and then some. I would go very, very easy on the sprays. Too much will certainly ruin this fragrance and make you and others sick to the stomach.

I love perfume and lean towards food and musk scents. This has floral notes in it, it is NO WAY a floral scent. This is definately a vanilla scent with musks and woods. The vanilla is not cloying and super sweet, it reminds me of sugar cones that you put icecream in. I think what makes the vanilla so different is the bitter almond. Then later I still smell the vanilla some spices, and some myrhh and sandalwood. It dries down to a vanilla, exotic spice smell. All of the ingredients shouldn't work together but do so well. I tried this yesterday and am going to buy a large sized bottle today. It will be my signature scent.

Dior DiorSkin AirFlash Spray Foundation

Product Description
What it is:An ultra-fluid mist foundation. What it is formulated to do:Delivers an "airbrushed" effect with precision and ease. Evens out skin tone and visibly diminishes the appearance of fine lines and skin irregularities.

Ingredients
All shades contain:Butane, Aqua (Water), Cyclopentasiloxane, Propane, Nylon-12, Cocoglycerides, Sodium Lactate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Glycerin, Caprylyl Dimethicone Ethoxy Glucoside, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Aluminum/Magnesium Hydroxide Stearate, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Silica, Sodium Chloride, Methylparaben, Potassium Sorbate, Propylparaben, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Parfum (Fragrance), Zinc Stearate, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Tocopherol, Benzyl Salicylate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene, Carboxaldehyde, Citronellol.

The DiorSkin AirFlash is very easy to apply, and gives a light matte finish that wonderfully evens out skin tone. Once applied, it's very lightweight- you can't feel it on your skin at all. Not much is needed, HOWEVER, there's barely any product in the can. I used it off and on for about a month, perhaps 15 applications in my estimation, and the can was bone dry after that. For $60, this is unacceptable! And I wasn't piling it on or anything, I would just do a light mist over my nose and cheek area.

If this was half the price, I would give it 5 stars, it's really a great product, but for a can mostly filled with compressed air, I have a hard time shelling out that kind of cash.

Everything about this product is amazing except for the price and how long it lasts. i splurged on this one just out of curiosity and i fell in love with it! It is very easy to apply honestly. i usually put it on right out of the shower and i have a towel on my head and it doesn't get on my hair. You really don't even need to touch up unless its been something like 10 hours since you've applied. I was using this product daily for about 3 weeks when i noticed it was getting a little low 8[ so i bought a different (but still expensive $40 foundation) - so now i use this off and on only on 1. days I'm in a huge rush 2. days that i have some horrible blemishes on my face (b/c this stuff will make them practically disappear!) or 3. I'm going out at night with friends or special occasions and don't want to worry at all about my makeup. I will continue to buy this product BUT if you aren't rich you can't use it for everyday application. If you use this product everyday it will probably last you one month. I've stretched its use out to probably 2.5+ months from using sparingly over after the first 3 weeks.

Dior DiorShow Iconic Mascara

Product Description
What it is:A mascara with an innovative oblique brush that curls and defines lashes. What it does:DiorShow Iconic Mascara is the latest in Dior's dazzling range of best-selling mascaras. Created backstage for fashion shows and celebrity red carpet events, the Iconic mascara features an oblique cut brush that gives an extra lash-curling effect. With its long, skinny teeth, the plastic comb brush allows you to precisely coat each lash one-by-one-creating a long, separated fan of lashes that usually takes the skill of a makeup artist. The extra-hold formula provides a 24-hour-curl with 100% smudge-proof results. What else you need to know:Inspired by the tailoring technique of cutting fabric on the bias to create maximum curve, the Iconic brush features soft silicone bristles that spiral around the stem to lift, curl, and separate every lash.

A co-worker of mine recommended this product not so long ago, so I decided to try it since it looked so great on her. I have always been on the hunt for next the best mascara, and I have tried a LOT of brands over the years including Lancome (Hypnose, Definicil, L'extreme) , Clinque, Cover Girl, Loreal, Maybelline, Revlon, etc...), but none blew me away. I really like Lancome's mascaras, however there is one problem, and it's same problem I have with all the other brands - SMUDGING. At the end of the day, my areas around my eyes get smudged and darkened and I HATE IT so much. Even when I don't rub my eyes all day, the mascara still gets smudged!

Well, this is where DIOR Iconic differentiates! It doesn't smudge at all unless you rub your eyes pretty hard. It still gives me the same effect as the other brands -- long, thick, no-clump, curvy lashes WITHOUT the smudging all day! I am Asian so I always need to curl my lashes for an extra lift no matter which brand I use. I find that if you warm up your curler before you use them, your curls will hold up longer and stronger. Sometimes I use the heat vent in my car or a hair dryer will do. It always works!

Chanel No. 5 Sensual Elixir by Chanel for Women 1.7 oz

Product Description
A sensual, feminine, and soft fragrance to captivate your senses.

Directions
For long-lasting effects fragrance should be applied to the bodys pulse points. These include the wrist, behind the ear, crease of your arm and knee, and the base of your throat. Pulse points give off more body heat as this is where blood vessels are closest to the skin, therefore continually warming and releasing your fragrance. Also, for a lasting effect spraying fragrance lower on the body allows it to rise throughout the day. Layering with the corresponding bath or shower gel and lotion, al

Customer Reviews
The elixer has such a great smell to it, not at all like the eau de toilette. I always found that the eau de toilette had a very strong and overbearing smell to it, especially when first applied. But, not the elixer, it is soft and sensual... very feminine. THIS is the type of fragrance that would drive a man wild!!

Very stable and fascinating smell. Suitable for not-so-young-anymore girls, though. Consider wearing it rather later during the day than mornings...

When asked what she wore to bed, Marilyn Monroe famously replied "Only a few drops of No. 5 . . . ."

Product Specific Info: This Sensual Elixir is the newest incarnation of Chanel No. 5 that allows the user to smell the whole fragrance --top, middle, and bottom notes together, upon application. Normally when a perfume is sprayed on the skin, the only thing that can be smelled are the 'top notes.' If the fragrance is an Eau de Toilette, you will smell the top notes combined with the smell of alcohol. After about ten minutes or so, the middle notes of the fragrance begin to emerge as the perfume 'dries down.' This makes the the fragrance take on a richer nature. After about thirty minutes, the base notes of the fragrance are evident. It is only at this point, when the fragrance has completely 'dried down,' that one can smell the true nature of a fragrance -- the top, middle, and base notes blended together.

Because this version is an elixir, there is no dry down period. You can smell the whole complex nature of Chanel No. 5 immediately without the wait. Many women have kindled a new found love of No. 5 this way. Some who didn't like the fragrance before have fallen in love when they got past smelling just the top notes.

The Sensual Elixir does not have a spray. It is the 'pour' or 'splash' type of bottle like the 'old days.' This is also called a "touch on" style bottle. One would take the cap off the top and touch the inside to all your favorite spots. You could also touch your finger to the open top and apply this way as well. The Elixir is thicker in consistancy than a perfume -- it's not a gel but more like a concentrate and less viscous than water -- somewhat of a fluid gel hybrid. It has a sensual, velvety feel.

With a fragrance as legendary as Chanel No. 5, a little history is helpful to understand why this fragrance has been one of the world's best-sellers for nearly a hundred years. In the 1920s, the popular perfumes of the time were single flower scents like "Rose," or "Jasmine" or "Lilly of the Valley." The legendary designer Coco Chanel set out to create a perfume that would capture a woman's personality in a way that a single flower scent never could and gave it a name, a package, and scent unlike anything experienced by the world. With a memory inducing aroma unlike any other before or since, Chanel No. 5 was one of the first scents to mix both raw natural scents with aldehydes or synthetic substitutes. This allows the perfumer to create scents never before experienced and not found in nature. Constructing No. 5 this way made the aroma unique and somewhat undefinable -- both feminine and mysterious. It is a composite or abstract fragrance with no one single note stronger in the mix than the others. Because of this, Chanel No. 5 smells slightly different on each woman as her own unique personality is heightened as the fragrance makes its home. Even twins smell slightly different wearing No. 5.

The Chanel No. 5 packaging is instantly recognizable by its shape alone. Released in a time filled with ornate ornamental bottles, the No 5 bottle was as revolutionary then as it remains timelessly modern today. The label and box are both simple and without color or ornamentation which only adds to its timeless appeal. This is a natural choice for the namesake perfume of the woman who made famous the essential "little black dress."

Then there's the name . . . sounding something closer to an ingredient in a chemistry set or a description in one of the popular catalogues of the time, Chanel gave her fragrance a name that eschewed all naming conventions. This played directly into her unique `launch strategy.' Instead of the grand, multimillion dollar campaign blitzes of today, Chanel spritzed her perfume in the air of her boutiques and gave tiny bottles away as gifts to her best clients and friends. When they would ask what it was or where it came from, she would nonchalantly reply she'd "discovered it by chance at a little perfumers who's name [she'd] forgotten" or that it was just "a little something she'd had made up as a gift." When her clients asked for more to purchase she would innocently reply "But I don't sell perfume, my dear!" Made popular by word-of-mouth and the exclusivity of the fact it could not be bought, soon clients began to demand that Chanel sell the fragrance. When demand reached the desired height, Chanel `granted" their wish. Of course, this was Chanel's plan all along.

Chanel did everything her own way and created a unique bottle, packaging, name, and scent. In this way she made all other fragrances look old, dated, and even obsolete and set a standard so unique that no one since, even till today, can emulate for fear of looking like a copy. She also is responsible for all those places, you know the ones, where we all dab our perfume. She famously told women to apply No. 5 anywhere they wanted to be kissed . . . .

"Because I love women, I wanted them to be comfortable in my clothes, to be able to drive a car. I wanted to create dresses that emphasized their femininity, that follow the shape of their body. When she is well-dressed, a woman is almost more naked than when she is undressed. I want to give her an artificial perfume, I mean artificial like a dress, in other words, created. I am a craftsman of couture. I don't want roses or lilly of the valley; I want a perfume that is a composition." -- Mademoiselle Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel

Chanel No. 5's mix of notes is so diverse and because no one single note is dominant, the fragrance smells simultaneously floral, fruity, warm and velvety, and just a little something undefinable. Although the perfume consists of more than just these plus large quantities of those mysterious aldehydes, here are the notes Chanel No 5 is most famous for: Ylang-Ylang from the Comoros, Neroli (Seville Orange Blossom) from Grasse, exclusive Aldehydes, Grasse Jasmine, May Rose, Sandal from Mysore, Vetiver from Reunion, and Bourbon Vanilla.

Customer Reviews
This lip gloss is so wonderful, I don't know where to start. Long lasting shine, perfect color, goes on smooth-doesn't feel sticky or gummy like some glosses do, mild fruity flavor. I HIGHLY recommend this lip gloss to anyone-the expense is worth it 100X over!

This is excellent lip gloss. I agree with the previous reviewer. It lasts for a very long time, doesn't feel sticky or liquidy, and doesn't taste bad. Unfortunately, the price is painful at which to look and on the wallet, but it's worth it. I've only tried one color (because of the price) and I think it works very well with my natural skin tones (I use 'Cry Baby'). Next time you're looking for a new lip gloss, check out this one. It's definitely worth it.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue

Product Description
A stunning perfume, overwhelming and irresistible like the joy of living. Surprising and colored: the liveliness of Sicilian citron, the happiness of Granny Smith apple, the spontaneity of bluebells. Feminine and resolute: the intensity of jasmine, the freshness of bamboo, the charm of white rose. Deep and true: the character of cedarwood, the fullness of amber, the embrace of musk.Notes:Sicilian Citron, Bluebell, Granny Smith Apple, Jasmine Sambac, Bamboo, White Rose, Cedarwood, Amber, Musk.Style:Deep and true.

Customer Reviews
I think I smell the citron the most in this scent. At first I thought is was similar to grapefruit and then I got the fine balance of other tones. Beautiful and light scent. Look for a good deal on it though, pricing varies greatly.

I have been wearing Dolce & Gabbana for over 2 years now. The fragrance is wonderfull, I am not much on strong fragrances that are overpowering so this one by Dolce & Gabbana was perfect for me. The fragrance lasts all day without fading. Use it with Gabbana lotion and you have the perfect pair!

I have been hooked on this fragrance ever since I got a little sample tube from Sephora! I alternate my fragrance according to my mood, but the fruity tones, and its magical blend with flowers makes me feel like I belong in one of those catalogue ads (you know, the ones with the girls with that no-makeup, tousled hair look). It's a very clean, unfussy scent, with a distinctive citrusy impact upon first whiff, but it builds into a more floral scent as you adjust your smell, but regardless of that, it just makes you feel elegant and playful at the same time. If a scent can make me feel this good, then by all means, I have to have it!

Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF 42 is wonderful! Light, fragrance free and buildable for more coverage. It looks natural and lasts all day. I appreciate the high SPF included since I have lupus and must wear sunscreen.

This is the best make-up with sunscreen I've ever used. I've tried many, but this one provides the best protection from the sun.

I have been using this product for about 3 years. As a skin cancer survivor I want the highest SPF I can find. Plus I like the coverage - looks good and feels light.

This moisturizer is the best. My face looks radiant all the time, it has decreased the lines on my face and my face always feels silky smooth now. I've had so many compliments on how great my skin looks. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

I have used just about every high price cosmetic you can buy and have found that anything that has SHISEIDO on it is quality at its best. The texture of this cream is indescribable and see results in texture of the skin in as little as the first application. I began to see results in the reduction of wrinkles and elasticity in as little as 2 weeks. This cream has also been proven to help the inflammation with people that suffer from rosacea, dermatitis, and psoriasis. This cream is totally amazing and will benefit by using anything from Shiseido. Shiseidos Pureness line is the most amzing product for severe acne problems. As you probably know SHISEIDO is the oldest and 2nd largest cosmetic company in the world founded in JAPAN and do signifigant research on the skin. I GIVE THIS PRODUCT AND COMPANY AN APLUS!!!

Ive used this product for 6 months and the results are amazing. My lines on my forehead are almost gone. My skin looks firm and toned and radient. Definately worth the money. Best moisturizer ive ever used. I will purchase again.

Customer Reviews
This is the perfect mascara..... my search is over. After trying just about every mascara on the market this is the best in show. Now I know why the Sephora that I always go to never has any black in stock.

This mascara gives you full, thick, beautiful lashes and it doesn't clump, flake or smear. You can even rub your eye when it itches and there is no dark smear under your eye.

I am happy to report that I can dispose of the 7 other mascaras in my makeup bag as this is the only one that I will be using from now on. I have tried every kind and brand of mascara that I thought might make my whimpy lashes look full: Borjouis, Benefit, Stilla, Urban Decay, Revlon, Loreal, Cover Girl, Almay, Max Factor, you name it and I have tried it.

The only mascara that I had purchased more than once is the Loreal Voluminous mascara and my old faithful Borjouis Volume Glamour mascara (the one with the pink lid) both of which work well but are missing something. Now I have one that's perfect and I don't need to try any new ones, I will definitely purchase this mascara again.

I've worn mascara since I was a teenager. If a quarter century of buying & wearing the stuff means anything, then the fact that this is the best I've ever used means something, too.
Yes, it's more expensive than the teeny-wanded stuff that flakes or smudges off within an hour, leaving you looking droopey-eyed or worse. I purchased this in Azure and literally have lost track of the number of compliments I've received on it: It's not the cheesy blue of the 1970s--this is a luxurious tanzanite blue (one that a friend noticed matched my motorcycle leathers).

Size: 0.3 oz

Customer Reviews
I have never worn foundation in my life. I hated being able to feel it on there, & I hated the effort of washing it off every night & how long it took to put on. This has solved all those problems. Applying the foundation takes maybe 30 seconds. I don't feel like I have anything on my face at all. Family was telling me how nice I looked, but when I told them I was wearing foundation they were surpised. It looked so natural. And this stuff won't hurt your skin if you leave in on at night. So no big hassle when you're tired & want to go to bed. The starter kit is the way to go; I was going to try just the foundation & was glad I got the starter kit. It's a really good deal over buying the things seperately as well.

My skin is so dry that regular liquid foundation peels off my face in large flakes. So I stopped wearing foundation until I found bare minerals. It covers very nice and it feels like I am not wearing any make-up at all. For dry skin I would recommend using the prime-time primer or skin rever upper 5 to 10 minutes before putting on the powder. It adds just the right amount of moisture. And for blemishes I love the rare minerals blemish therapy. It is tinted and cleared up my blemishes in only a few days.

Customer Reviews
I wasn't crazy about this mascara when I first put it on but it grew on me. The brush is not a regular mascara brush and it took a little getting used to however I love it now. It brushes the clumps right off your lashes as you apply. They'll be long and nicely separated. And the stuff stays on your lashes like glue all day. No smearing and it still looks perfect at the end of the day to the point where I feel like it's a shame to wash my eye makeup off. I'm really pleased with it. I want to try Lancome's new mascara too but this one is definitely a keeper.

Anti-aging Treatments

beneficial for reducing the telltale age spots, wrinkles and fine lines on your skin. There are various cosmetic surgical procedures available nowadays that minimize the signs of aging on your skin. You can also reduce the anti aging signs by eating a well balanced diet and cutting down on sugary stuff and fast food.
Face lifts help to remove sagging skin and wrinkles permanently. There are different kinds of face lifts that are beneficial for different age groups.

Some of the common face lifts are mid facelift, thread lift and deep plane lift. If face lifts are done improperly, it can result in a distorted 'wind swept' appearance. Some of the other risks are skin infections and damage to the facial nerves.

Sculptra face rejuvenation or 'liquid face lift' is a popular method of removing wrinkles and sagging skin without invasive surgery. PLA particles are implanted into the skin which stimulates collagen formation and increases skin elasticity. Some of the temporary side effects are swelling, redness and bruising of the skin.

Laser skin resurfacing is another popular method of treating fine lines, wrinkles and hyper pigmentation. Laser beams are repeatedly moved over the area to be treated to correct the skin imperfections. Facial bandages are strapped on to minimize the effect of swelling. Skin infections might happen in rare cases.

Dermal filler treatments are cost effective cosmetic procedures that help you to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines. These treatments are effective in treating lipstick lines, forehead lines,‘crow’s feet’,and acne pits. Restylane, hyaluronic acid and collagen are used in the filler treatments to increase skin elasticity. These dermal fillers are injected into the skin to get rid of the fine lines , wrinkles and sunken facial features. The effect of dermal fillers gradually diminish with time. So, touch up treatments are required after a period of time.

Collagen replacement treatment is also beneficial in treating wrinkles and fine lines. Zyplast® and Zyderm® are used in the bovine collagen implants that are injected into the skin. Allergy tests are done prior to the collagen treatment.

Swelling of skin, redness and rosacea are some of the side effects of collagen replacement treatments. Chest pain, low blood pressure and shortness of breath can also occur in certain cases.

The above mentioned anti-aging treatments are effective in reducing the signs of age. Some of them work on a permanent basis, while some need periodic touch up treatments.

4 Basic Skin Care Needs

I'm tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. ... What do you want -- an adorable pancreas?" -- Jean Kerr, American author and playwright

Here we show you tips on how to properly care for your skin, from the right way to cleanse your face, to the best moisturizers and sunscreens. Before we start with the proper daily 4-step skincare routine, you'll need to know your skin type. How you care for your skin is utterly dependent on the type of skin you have: oily, normal/combination, dry, sensitive or sun- damaged. Find out what skin type you have.
Step 1: Cleansing Simple is key here. You need to find a good cleanser that your skin responds well to, and stick with it. See the best cleansers for your skin type.

You can find a good cleanser at the drugstore. There's no need to spend $40 on a fancy wash. Avoid bar soaps as they tend to dry out the skin. According to Rona Berg, in her book, "Beauty," a French cosmetics executive once told her "soap should only ever touch your skin from the neck down." We agree. Choose instead a creamy cleanser if you have dry skin or a cleanser without oil if you have oily skin.

Be careful not to cleanse too often. Washing at night should do you. While some skincare experts swear you should cleanse skin with creamy cleansers that you wipe off with a tissue, never letting water touch your skin (some hard waters are especially hard on skin), we prefer the water method. In the morning, a splash of lukewarm water is all you need (we find it's great for removing excess oils from your nightly moisturizing). Never wash your face with hot or cold water (both can cause broken capillaries). Also be careful about overcleansing skin, see signs you are overcleansing your skin. Here's the best way to wash your face: Use warm water to loosen dirt and clogged pores. Use a dime-sized bit of cleanser, then rinse with cool or lukewarm water. You'll also want to take off your makeup with a proper makeup remover.

Step 2: ExfoliateExfoliation is the step most people skip in their weekly skincare routine. But trust me, if you start properly exfoliating your skin, you will notice an almost immediate difference. According to Berg, one of the reasons men's skin looks more youthful than women's is because men tend to exfoliate daily when they shave. There are several ways to exfoliate skin: Microdermabrasion, chemical peels and retinoids.
Scrubs work by removing the top layer of dead skin cells that tend to dull your complexion. We find exfoliating skin once a week with a microdermabrasion kit keeps skin glowing year-round. Make sure you use a gentle scrub with tiny grains. Big grains in cheap scrubs can tear skin and cause more harm than good. My favorite microdermabrasion kit is made by Lancome. In the hour it takes to get a chemical peel, you can take off five years from your face. Can't afford the price tag for a monthly peel? Try some over-the-counter peels that work over the course of a month. I prefer MD Skincare's. Retinoids (such as Retin-A or the more moisturizing Renova) also work by removing the top layer of dead skin cells while also generating collagen in the skin. "Collagen is the skin's structural fiber," dermatologist Dennis Gross said in O Magazine. "As we get older, it breaks down, creating lines and large pores." Skincare experts disagree on all sorts of things, but most of them consider retinoids to be a miracle skin saver. Should you use a toner? Some people swear by toners, but many beauty experts do not (I once read a skincare expert claim, "toners are only for copy machines"). Toners are meant to remove all remaining traces of oil, makeup and dirt, but a good cleanser should do this. I firmly believe it's up to you. If you like the way your skin feels with a toner. Buy it. Use it. Enjoy it.

Step 3: Moisturize While I know of at least one famous beauty editor who swore skin doesn't need moisturizer, basically everyone else I've read disagrees and is an adamant believer in it. A basic law of beauty is that everyone, no matter her skin type, should moisturize. Even if your skin is oily, it will benefit from moisturizers. (The only exception is those with acne). Why? Moisturizers seal moisture into skin (Berg calls this the "Saran Wrap effect"). So how much should you moisturize? Your skin will tell you. When your skin is tight, it's crying out for moisture. Be careful not to overmoisturize -- this can cause clogged pores.

See our list of the best moisturizers on the market. Are eye creams necessary? Well maybe. Some beauty experts strongly recommend eye creams. Why? The skin around the eye contains no fatty tissue and is therefore very thin and susceptible to wrinkles. Special eye creams are formulated to 'thicken' this area and keep it sturdy. Yet other experts (including the beauty editors of Allure in their new book) claim your daily lotion works around the eyes just as well.
Step 4: Apply Sunscreen 'O' magazine ran an article featuring interviews with several top skin care experts and dermatologists (check it out here ). Every single one of them said sunscreen was the most important part of your skincare regimen. It was the secret they would pass on to their daughters. The number 1 cause of wrinkles is sun damage, so it's important to use sunscreen from your early years on even in winter and on cloudy days. A great trick is to purchase two moisturizers: one for night and one for day that includes UV protection. Don't use moisturizers with sunscreen at night, the ingredients are not meant to be used 27/7 and can aggravate skin. When choosing a sunscreen, make sure it contains Mexoryl (found in my favorite sunscreen La-Roche Posay) or Helioplex, found in Neutrogena products.

Summer Hair Care Tips from Naomi Knights

Summer is the best! When the weather turns sunny, you can bet I'm spending 90% of my free time outdoors. BBQ's, and swimming pools, here I come! The only thing (besides mosquitoes) that stinks about summertime though is the damage all that chlorine and sunshine can do to your hair. But if there's one person I can think of who knows the ins and outs of hair chemistry, it's Naomi Knights, colorist at ION Studio in New York. I turned to her for some tips to keep your locks lush all summer long.

"The first thing that comes to mind when it comes to masks you can do yourself is an avocado mask. It's extremely nourishing and that's exactly what the hair needs after a summer of fun! I find the most simple method is avocado and olive oil. I usually do about 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil per avocado. It's especially nice if you heat the olive oil before mixing it with the avocado. Apply to dry hair and leave for 20-30 minutes then shampoo off with a delicate shampoo and a nourishing conditioner. Avocado is very high in fatty acids and a good source of vitamin D and Potassium, and olive oil will help keep the shine in your hair!
If your scalp is sensitive from the sun, you can add a few drops of a calendula or chamomile essential oil for soothing purposes. Do be careful of certain essential oils like tea tree on sun sensitive scalps as they can be a bit too stimulating. If you decide you want to use essential oils add a little jojoba oil to the mix because it helps carry the oils into your scalp gently.
When going into the ocean water or a swimming pool you want to be sure to use a silicone or oil-based product on your hair for protection as these separate from water and can help prevent the penetration of the chlorine and dehydration of the salt.
The whole Davines Su line has something for every hair type as far as protection is concerned. It's really important to use a more nourishing shampoo and conditioner like the one in SU after the sun to replace your hair's natural elements.I also try to get all my clients to come in for a Detox treatment before and after the summer time to protect their hair. The mud really absorbs any unwanted excess on the hair and the shampoo helps to control chlorine while the conditioner prevents future penetration of such environmental damages.
"I went in not too long ago for the Detox treatment, and it was incredible! It's literally like a facial mud mask for your hair. It draws out any impurities, either due to product overload, pollution, or hard water, and makes your hair look much brighter, kind of like you just had it colored. It's amazing what builds up in your strands over time!

Top Hair Care Tips

Whether you have straight or curly hair, care of that stuff growing on top of your head takes up at least some time in every day of your life.

When most people look for information about that aspect of their grooming routine, however, they're usually seeking articles with titles like Managing Long Hair or Curly Hair Tips. Rarely do we consider that most people don't really know what hair is, what it's made of, or how it grows.Deep in the dermis of the human skin, particularly on the scalp, long, bulb-like follicles produce a shaft of protein. That protein strand is hair. A new hair pushes outward from the follicle and upward through the skin. A single hair can live four to five years before falling out and being replaced by another strand. On the human head the rate of growth is about half an inch a month.A strand of hair has an inner cortex and a series of outer layers (6 to 8 in humans) known as the cuticle. In chemical terms the hair is 90% a-keratin and 10% water. The protein (a-keratin) is encased in a wrapping of microfibrils held together by a kind of protein glue. The resulting tensile strength of hair, even when it is dead, is quite strong. Wet hair, however, is very fragile.

Types of HairThere are different types of hairs for different people. You need to know what type of hair you have and then plan to maintain your hair.

Straight versus Curly HairThe type of hair, in terms of straight or curly, depends in part on a further chemical component. The a-keratin and other proteins in hair contain sulfur atoms which bond together in pairs to form a disulfide bond. When the two proteins that bond are distanced from one other, the bonding causes a bend in the hair.In addition, the environment can temporarily increase or decrease this bonding. Damp days are often known as "bad hair" days in the vocabulary of curly hair care. Humidity forces water back into the hair shaft and affects the number and degree of bends. Depending on the chemical structure of the hair, humidity may make it fall or become straighter, or kink and become even curlier. When the humidity subsides, the hair chemistry will seek its normal level. When a person with straight hair gets a chemical treatment known as a "permanent," the solution applied to their hair alters the disulfide bonds and cause the hair to bend into curls. As new hair grows in, however, it will resume its normal state. By the same token people with curly hair can use chemical solutions to break down their disulfide bonds thus straightening the hair, but the solution is only temporary and the normal chemistry of the hair will reassert itself.

FrizzyExtreme curliness or frizziness can be a product of heredity, as in the case of people of African descent. Because the physical structure of African hair is flat, the strands roll up into very dense, tight curls. Curly hair in other races can appear frizzy when it has been damaged by chemical processes or environmental factors. This is often caused by the end of the hair unraveling and fraying into split ends which gives the frizzy appearance. The combination of summer heat and high humidity can make any hair type dry and brittle which leads to the fraying of split ends. If frizziness is not a product of heredity and physical hair structure, it is an issue of the hair needing to be moisturized and of the damaged, split ends needing to be removed.

Ingrown HairsIrregular hair growth or ingrown hairs are most common in people with curly hair (and in men's beards). An ingrown hair occurs when the hair strand grows back into the skin. The area will become inflamed and often pus will form. Normally a single ingrown hair can be allowed to heal on its own. The infected area will open and drain when sufficient pressure has built for the infection to break through the skin. This essentially frees the hair to grow outward again. Many times, however, the area will need to be opened and the hair extracted with a pair of tweezers. If you perform this minor surgery, place a hot wash cloth over the irritated hair to soften the outer layer of skin. Avoid digging at the skin. Use a sterilized needle to gently open the lesion and apply mild pressure to release the pus and encourage the area to drain. Although you may need to use a magnifying glass, the hair should be visible and can be gently lifted out with the tip of the needle until enough of the shaft is exposed to allow it be grasped with tweezers and extracted. If ingrown hairs become a chronic problem, you may need to wear your hear in a longer style to keep the tips of the shafts away from the skin.

Air Dry Your Hair

Air Dry Your Hair
By Wenona Napolitano

If you often blow dry and process your hair with flat irons, curling irons or hot rollers your hair is probably ready for a break. All that heat and processing can leave your hair dry, brittle and very damaged.

Give your hair a much needed break and let it air dry naturally. Think of it as a vacation for your hair.

The first step for air drying is to use hair products for air drying instead of blow drying; a good absorbent towel is also a plus. An absorbent towel will suck up excess moisture and speed up dry time. A good leave in conditioner will keep your hair from becoming frizzy.

Use the absorbent towel to remove excess moisture then gently blot your hair dry. Do not rub your hair. Rubbing will damage the strands and cause frizzy hair and split ends. You want to keep the hair shafts as smooth as possible.

If your hair tends to become flat or too frizzy from air drying you can fluff it by finger combing or pull it back with big clips. I like to pull my sides back in two large clips to add volume to my hair while it is drying. Once it is dry I pull out the clips and have natural volume and waves.

Use products suitable for the texture of your hair. Fine hair works best with mousses and sprays, curly and wavy hair respond best to gels and creams. Find a great product suitable for your hair type that also helps combat frizz, this will help keep your hair under control while air drying.

After you find products that work well for your hair and you get the hang or air drying you will love it. Every time I air dry my hair it has a completely different texture than when I blow dry it. It is softer and so much shinier. Air drying is a vacation for your hair and a styling option for you. It gives you a chance to try a different style and it gives your hair a break from over processing.

Makeup Tips For Asian Women

Finding the right makeup for Asian women begins with choosing the proper foundation. Asian women need foundation with yellow undertones, which can be difficult to find when so many mainstream foundations feature pink undertones. The best bet is to go with a mainstream line like MAC or L’Oreal, which separate their foundations into warm (yellow) or cool (pink) undertones, or try one of the new makeup lines created especially for Asian women, such as Zhen, Thi or EX1.

Once you have found the proper foundation, the next trick is enlarging your eyes. First apply a neutral color from the lash line to the brow to even out any discoloration. Then add a second color which matches the first but is slightly darker or deeper, just on the lid. Blend the border area of the two colors and you’ll have a natural but enhanced look. Finish by lightly lining the upper lid on the lash line with a liquid liner or push brush dipped in cream eyeliner or dark eye shadow (if you are using the shadow, wet the brush first). Don’t worry about whether you have a crease or not, as a crease defined with eye shadow is passé these days.

Asian women tend to have sparse eyelashes, so if this is a problem for you, finding a great mascara will be a big help. Mascaras with lengthening fibers in them such as Fiber Xtension by Shu Uemura, Lorac Lotsa Lash or Jane Hi Fiber are among the best kinds of makeup for Asian women.
